In an increasingly interconnected world, the desire to secure a second passport has gained significant popularity among individuals seeking greater mobility, expanded business opportunities, and enhanced personal security. Who am I to speak? I am American and Antiguan, and I would still like to be able to live elsewhere.

Programs such as the Golden Visa and Economic Citizenship have emerged as pathways for obtaining alternative citizenship or residency in various countries. I did not go that route. I did it the old-fashioned way, where my mother "filed" for me as family reunification, which granted me a residency card, aka a "green card." After a few years, I qualified for naturalization and applied for citizenship.
